Knowledge and Attitude in Occupational Health among Different Age Groups of Employees


Abstract
In order to obtain basic reference materials for the development of occupational health education programmes in indestry, the knowledge-attitude-practice survey was carried out on 424 manual workers and 769 staff members according to the ages.
It was found that young manual workers and staff members had an equivalent amount of knowledge in workers¢¥ disease, though young manual workers showed more interest in occupational diseases, while staff members showed more interest in non-occupational conditions. With regard to the prevention of occupational diseases, majority of employees favored the establishment of occupational health programmes in the firm, though many young workers didn¢¥t know what is to be done and staffs particularly old ones, were doubtfil about the effect of such programmes. There was noted a strong tendency to seek advice from and rely upon physicians within an without firms as fas as worker¢¥s health problems are concerned. Health informations were mostly obtained through mass media in all age groups.
